9.30am Introduction by Helen Spalding (Chair), Associate Solicitor, from the Costs and Litigation Funding team at Clarion.

9.40am Andrew McAulay, Partner and Head of the Costs and Litigation Funding team, will discuss the recent developments in respect of the extension of fixed costs and the new guideline hourly rates.

10.00am Following the decision in Barking, Havering and Redbridge University Hospitals NHS Trust v AKC [2021] EWHC 2607 (QB); Matthew Rose, Associate at Clarion, will discuss certification of Bills, Statements and Budgets and the formalities of costs.

10.20am Shilpa Shah, Personal Injury and Costs Litigation Barrister at Ropewalk Chambers, will take us through the practical issues arising out of the increased use of remote hearings and the court’s approach moving forward.

10.40am Daniel Murray, Associate at Clarion, will provide key updates and practical advice in respect of costs management.

11.00am The Judiciary is already passionate about ADR.It is clear that next year, court rules will legitimise Orders requiring parties to mediate in some matters. Professor Dominic Regan will explain the prevailing authorities as well as identify exactly what is coming in 2022 .

11.20am Q&A chaired by Helen Spalding.
